“Transformers” meets the GACC

Growing up in the 80s and early 90s, “Optimus Prime,” “Bumblebee,” “Ironhide” and “Megatron” were regular household names. Nowadays they are more or less known from the very successful “Transformers” movie franchise. Bumblebee, the yellow “Autotron” is actually General Motors’ most successful model of recent months: the all new Chevy Camaro. But why would I write about Transformers on our GACC South blog? Updated: Expert Luncheon on Bioenergy

April 8, 2010 @ W Downtown Hotel Atlanta

On Thursday, April 8, 2010 the GACC South hosted a business luncheon on bioenergy. The luncheon was sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) as part of the Renewable Energies Export Initiative. We hosted the event at Downtown’s own W Hotel, which coincidentally carries the theme called “urban forest”. Transatlantic Climate Bridge – Charlotte, NC

I was in Charlotte, NC, last Thursday, November 12, to attend the conference “Transatlantic Climate Partnerships: Renewable Energies Featuring the Carolinas.”

“Featuring the what?!” you might wonder…. typical stereotypes are that only researchers, BMWs and failed banks originate from the Carolinas. But the truth is that the Carolinas – North and South Carolina that is – are much more diverse and possess a strong “sense of urgency” (see John Kotter or his interview in Inc. Four cities in five days….I actually thought about writing this post on my mobile phone during one of the lay-overs in Miami, San Francisco/Sacramento, Minneapolis or New York, but have you ever tried to write lengthy texts/emails on either iPhone or Blackberry keyboards?! That’s why I decided to wait until I was back in Atlanta.
