The Chamber welcomes a new Chairman of the Board

Normally, the new year brings change, but with the Chamber, it all happens around our Annual General Meeting in April. After a great year with our beloved former Chairman Matthias Schönberg, CEO of Continental Tire the Americas LLC, we welcome our new Chairman Martin Richenhagen with open arms.

Mr. Richenhagen was voted in by our Board of Directors this afternoon at our Annual General Meeting in Asheville, North Carolina. He is the Chairman, President & CEO of the AGCO Corporation. He was the first, and for many years the only, German CEO of a US Fortune 500 company. Born and raised in Cologne, he studied theology and philosophy and worked as a French teacher before he changed fields and started a successful international business career. He has been the head of the Duluth-based agricultural equipment manufacturer AGCO Corporation since 2004

The AGCO Corporation has 12,000 employees worldwide, 15 production plants across the globe and operations in 140 countries. The company is the world’s third largest manufacturer of agricultural equipment and sells its products under the well-known brands Challenger®, Fendt®, Massey Ferguson® and Valtra®.

In addition to the new Chairman, four new people have also been elected to the Board of Directors for the GACC South. New members include:

  • Rudi Herbst, President & CEO of United Soft Plastics, Inc.
  • Sylvia Minton, Sr. VP Corporate Institutional + Government Affairs  of MAGE Solar Projects
  • Sam C. Moses, Attorney at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP
  • Michael G. Sauer, Senior Vice President of BVT Equity Holdings, Inc.

Please extend  your welcomes to our new Chairman and new members of the Board. We look forward to a great year!
