Finishing what you start may sometimes seem hard. Not so much when it is a 5k run on a motivating beautiful Sunday in Piedmont Park in Atlanta.
On October 27, 2013 ten staff members of the GACC South participated in Atlanta’s first Oktoberfest Run. If you looked close enough you could even see runners in Dirndl’s and Lederhosen. The event was organized by the German-American Cultural Foundation and approximately 120 runners participated.
For some of us it was rather a walk on a beautiful day, enjoying the sunshine, whereas others showed off by being first at the finish line. Supporters lined the streets, among them several staff members, our President & CEO Martina Stellmaszek as well as our Vice President Stefanie Jehlitschka, who both took pictures of us.
It was no surprise to any of us that our staff member Manuel won the price for being the fastest in his age group.
As a reward for the burned calories, we indulged at the after-party while drinking German beer, eating Bratwurst and Sauerkraut.
Besides being active, staying healthy and reaching our limits, it was much fun and a great team experience.
