Skates and S’mores

Post written by Mona Wedad

Having started my internship with the GACC South on November 19, I escaped all the hustle and bustle that came with organizing the Annual Gala. However, I came right in time for the marketing team’s annual ice skating trip at the St. Regis Hotel in Buckhead.

Though the weather was warm at 70 degrees in the middle of December, the big nutcracker at the entrance of the hotel and the life-sized gingerbread house in the lobby captured the cheerful holiday season.

Some of us started the night with German Glühwein while others warmed up with some scrumptious hot chocolate topped off with decadent marshmallows and whipped cream. No worries though because all of the calories were burned when we hit the ice skating rink.

After some assistance by the great staff at the St. Regis, our skates were tightly secured and the marketing department was ready to take the ice and showcase a lutz jump or a triple axel jump here or there. In my case, I showed off my talent for falling on the ice over and over again.

Just when I thought the evening was over, we were led to the outside fireplace where homemade cinnamon and peppermint marshmallows as well as graham crackers and chocolate were awaiting us. Eating warm s’mores was a sweet end to a great night with my newly acquired work family.
